Modern Apprenticeships
Modern Apprenticeships enable you to train on the job - and learn while you earn. Trade Education is an approved Modern Apprenticeships provider.
Apprentice
Our Modern Apprenticeships Coordinator works with you and your employer, making sure you cover all the training requirements and helping with any issues that arise. The Coordinator will answer questions, monitor your progress and help make sure you’re gaining NZQA Unit Standards towards your qualification.
Modern Apprenticeship can range from two to five years. Depending on the industry, most learning will be on the job, with some part time study. When you successfully complete the apprenticeship, you will gain a National Certificate in that industry.
Industries included are: agriculture, building & construction, contracting, engineering, furniture, joinery, motor, painting & decorating, road transport, seafood and water.
To be considered for a Modern Apprenticeship, you must;
- Be 16 to 21 years old when you start (although older people may be eligible in some cases)
- Be ready to work towards a National Certificate Level 3 or 4
- Meet any entry requirements of the industry or business.
You don’t need to be doing, or have done, any training with Trade Education.
Employer
If you’re an employer, taking on a Modern Apprentice is a great way to boost business. As well as knowing you’ve got a young person with the right attitude, you’ll have the support of our Modern Apprenticeships Coordinator. They’ll help with administration and paperwork, and generally help things to run smoothly.
