- Pre-trade Carpentry

Pre-trade Carpentry - level 4

A 36-week NZQA/BCITO approved course

The Pre-Trade Carpentry course is based on industry designed unit standards. You will cover all theory units of the National Certificate carpentry and complete practical work to consolidate your knowledge base. The course includes on-site work placements. On successfully completing the course, you will gain the Trade Education Certificate in Pre-Trade Carpentry Level 4, plus a First Aid Certificate. You will be ideally placed to take up an apprenticeship.

  • Final course enrolment: February 2011
  • 2011 course starts 21 February 2011, and runs until 28 October 2011, with a two-week break in the middle of the year.
  • Study times: 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Wednesday, 8am to 3pm Thursday, with Friday as a study day.

Fees:

Full course fees for the 2011 year are $4,580 including GST (under $125 a week). Fees cover all tuition, field trips, First Aid Certificate, Ramset Licence and administration. You need to pay the fees up front on enrolment.

Entry requirements:

You must have completed three or more years of secondary school and gained either NCEA Level 1, or 12 credits in English and Maths. If your education was overseas, you need an IELTS of 5.5 or above.

Materials/equipment:

You need to buy course texts and stationery, hand tools and steel-capped work boots.
