Why choose Trade Education?

Commitment

At Trade Eductation, we’re big enough to deliver the best. We’re also small enough to really care.

We’re focused on helping people to achieve their training and workplace goals. We do all we can to match training to the individual - and provide the right support.

Wherever possible, we help to open doors into employment. We have strong relationships with employers and industry organizations, helping to maximize the opportunities all round.

History

Trade Education started out as Opotiki Trade Training in 1986. We became a private training establishment in 1995.

Right from the start, we have worked hand-in-hand with industry. We keep in touch with businesses around the Bay of Plenty. Students get to visit workplaces, and at times work on site.

Over the years, we have helped thousands of students to achieve their employment goals. We have also managed hundreds of Modern Apprenticeships.

We have three training sites: Trade Education Opotiki which is our head office; Trade Education Whakatane, established 2003; and Trade Education Rotorua, established 2006.

Tutors

Trade Education has 12 full-time tutors, across the three campuses. All tutors are industry experienced and have a trade qualification.

Tutors are closely involved with employers and Industry Training Organizations (ITOs) so they understand the latest requirements and challenges.

If you have proven industry experience and teaching skills and you’re interested in becoming a Trade Education Tutor, please check staff vacancies

Students & Graduates

We have over 150 students: 50 in Opotiki; 70 in Whakatane; 35 in Rotorua. Students generally study full-time on a course that lasts six months or one year.

Most Trade Education students are aged 18-24. However, anyone is welcome to study with us, regardless of age (everyone must meet the course entry requirements). We’ve had plenty of students complete a course and the next year, their brothers or sisters, or even their parents, decide to enroll and advance their own skills.

Keen to know who's studied with us? Check out our past graduates page.

If you’re coming from another area, our course administrator can help you to find out more about our area, and get settled in. That could include things like sending you details of local activities or clubs, or helping you find accommodation.

Partnerships & Accreditations

Trade Education is an approved provider. We are:

  • Fully NZQA registered and accredited
  • Approved by NZTA
